Uses of Geotextile Dewatering Tubes

Sludge tube or geo tubes as they are also known are a great fit for large dewatering projects. They are designed using large dimensions and use high quality woven geotextile fabric compared to the normal nonwoven fabric of dewatering bags. The construction allows removal of large amounts of silt and sludge without replacing the bags.

Due to their large capacity and their strength, geotextile dewatering tubes are used for large water projects like water treatment, paper mill, agricultural ponds, and industrial lagoons. Their sizes can be custom made to your ideal size and location.

Geotubes fabrication allows them to be used in dewatering contaminated sediments, copper tailings, lakes, and rivers among other areas. Geotextile tubes are used to speed up the dewatering process after sediments are treated with a polymer. Sediments particles flocculate and increase in particle size when they enter in the geotubes. The result is that geotextile tubes dewater fast making the discharged water have fewer solids.

Geotextile tubes are a creative way of dewatering sludge, and water by-products. Special geotube fabric is fabricated and seamed into various tubes of different lengths. Ports are afterward fabricated into the tubes allowing water to be pumped full. As water is pushed through the geotextile fabric, the waste is held in the tubes. Once the waste is dewatered the tubes can be cut and the waste properly disposed of.

The above are some uses of geotextile tubes.
